The chairs are a tool that allows research, development and innovation to be promoted, as well as work for different social and cultural causes. So far there are eight at the URV, four formalized with companies, two with Unesco and two with institutions.
Those known as University-Company are instruments to promote durable collaboration agreements between both parties and in this way guarantee long-term work with broad objectives in teaching, research and technology transfer. The guiding thread of the agreement goes beyond the strictly economic field and places special emphasis on actions that promote innovation and interdisciplinarity.
Other purposes of this type of chairs are to organize seminars, conferences, conferences and specific courses; promote student internships; promoting end-of-career theses and doctoral theses, and helping the company to find professionals and technologies suitable for its needs.
For their part, the Unesco chairs aim to promote twinning and work between university networks around the world to strengthen cooperation and the transfer of knowledge between them, as well as academic solidarity.
